We take our regular monthly look at what councils across North West Queensland decided at their meetings. Last time we looked at the July 2021 meetings. This time we look at July 2021 meetings. Cloncurry Shire Council Cloncurry Shire Council has renewed the lease of the local PCYC for another three years. The new leases goes until 31 August 2024 and Council authorisd the CEO to sign the option to renew the lease for the PCYC Gym and Activity Hall. Council has approved community grants for Cloncurry Kindy $1000, All Abilities Watersports $1000 (plus provide access to Chinaman Creek Dam during the event), Dajarra Rodeo $5000 but did not support the Cloncurry State School P&C Community Grant application on the grounds of limited alignment to community grants. It approved RADF grants to Storey Players for $6000.00 and 'The Clints Come Again Reunion Cabaret' for $2500 and waived the hire fee of the Shire Hall. Council review edthe Community grant application received from RedDoor MultiSkill Centre Limited to establish an Out of School Hours Care program in Cloncurry and gave a grant of $20,000. Council awarded a tender for the Management of the Cloncurry Aquatic Facility for the initial term (1 Sept 2021 - 30 June 2022) to Nerissa O'Brien for $155,990. "Vandalism seems to come when the property is actually secured with QBuild and prior to it handed out to Housing", the minutes said. Council recommended the gap be shortened. Council postponed the Doomadgee Rodeo with no new date as yet. Due to COVID lockdowns everyone needs a permit to visit Doomadgee. Flinders Shire Council Flinders Council agreed to the request from the Hughenden Railway Social Club to continue the current Lease for a further five year period. Council has appointed a new CEO Hari Boppudi, the current Director of Engineering and "a talented engineer who is dedicated to delivering services to the community of Flinders Shire". Graeme Kanofski will continue as interim CEO during transition. Council has named the access road around the Hughenden Recreational Lake as 'Bones Dennis Memorial Drive'. Bones worked for Council for 48 years before his passing in August 2020 and played a major role in the development and construction of the Recreational Lake. Council approve a $2000 community grant for the St Francis F.A.C.E Network. McKinlay Shire Council Tenders for the Sale of the former Town and Country Club close 5pm September 3, 2021. and will be presented to a Special Meeting of Council at 8.30am Tuesday Sep 7. The T&CC land is currently zoned commercial and the two adjoining Lots to the rear are zoned residential. Council advised the Department of Environment and Science Qld it supports the decision to approve the site-specific environmental authority for St Elmo Vanadium mine proposal by Multicom Resources. Council will submit an application under the Qld State Government Resources Community Infrastructure fund for stage 2 subdivision of land to meet the anticipated demand for land and housing created by projected mining projects in the Shire. Staff finalised documentation for the proposed extension of the Livestock Transit Centre including the installation of a new Dip and proceeded to invite fresh tenders. Mornington Shire Council Council authorised Mayor Yanner's proposal for a youth camp as an approved council event and granted him leave of approval for the event. Council asked community organisations for donations such as fuel for the camp, Richmond Shire Two lots on Pattel Drive were rezoned to light industrial and put up for sale. Council discussed the application regarding the newly created Richmond Athletics Club requests and agreed to approve it with conditions.
