The City of Swan thanks more than 300 members of The Vines community for coming together and engaging with the City in a proactive, respectful and productive manner at a Special Meeting of Electors held on Tuesday evening.
The meeting was called by local residents and ratepayers in the form of a petition containing the signatures of 486 residents and ratepayers.
It allowed the community to discuss the implications of the The Vines (WA) potential proposal for future redevelopment of parts of The Vines Golf Course.
The City to date has not received any form of application from The Vines (WA).
Deputy Mayor David Lucas said the private proposal had raised a number of issues and concerns throughout the community that have been documented by the City.
“The meeting on Tuesday evening was very productive and I was encouraged to see such passion and participation in our community,” he said.
“I would particularly like to acknowledge the professional, respectful way that the community of The Vines presented their issues and concerns.
“I would also like to thank the owners of The Vines for making their consultant available to clarify their process.
“I would like to reassure our community that we have listened to your views, heard your concerns and have taken note of all the issues raised.”
Cr Lucas said the proposal still appeared to be in early stages and depending on its final format, the City of Swan may not be the final decision maker.
“There are a number of different approval processes this application could take,” he said.
“This item may be referred to the Joint Development Assessment Panel or the WA Planning Commission.
“We are committed to keeping the community informed and will let them know as soon as we receive any further information on this proposal.”
