With this year’s Father’s Day celebrations set to be spent in lockdown, it’s even more of a reason to get creative and give dad something special this Sunday.
If you’ve left gift buying until the last minute, Mayor Ian Tiley is encouraging everyone to explore the huge range of local gift options this year to help out a struggling business while purchasing a present worth remembering.
“The lockdown period has been tough on everyone, but especially for our local retail and hospitality venues,” said Mayor Tiley.
“This hasn’t seen people give up hope though, with many of our favourite shops offering click and collect, online ordering, or creating exciting hampers and goodie boxes.”
“These are all excellent options for gifts that will mean you’re supporting the hard working members of our community that need a hand right now.”
With the lockdown set to be in place until Friday September 10, the community is reminded to adhere to the public health order, and not visit other households this weekend.
Mayor Tiley said he wants to congratulate our community on the fantastic efforts that have been demonstrated so far.
“Our region has banded together to stick to the rules and do everything possible to get out of this lockdown as soon as possible,” he said.
“While it means some people may be alone this Father’s Day, the more effort we put in now to follow the advice and stay safe, the sooner we will be able to enjoy the freedoms we are all looking forward to.”
“I’d like to thank everyone for sticking together and supporting each other during this tough time.”
