Council care packs delivered to our vulnerable community Published: 6 September 2021

Cardinia Shire Council has packed and delivered 600 care packs to local community partners working directly with vulnerable community members.

The packs contain personal care items including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent as well as health support information. 

The packs were distributed this week to our emergency relief providers including:

Cardinia Shire Mayor Brett Owen said the care packs are one way Council is supporting our community during these tough times. 

“We are helping locals get through these challenging times and I thank everyone for being involved in delivering these care packs,” he said.  

“You can also jump on to our website for a copy of our directory with info about local services such as food relief and rent assistance. 

“There’s also business grants available through Victorian Government and council’s business concierge service is here to help you navigate the application processes. 

“I also encourage anyone who feels like they might need a bit of additional emotional or mental health support to reach out to a support service such as Head to Help in Officer, Lifeline, Kids Helpline and Beyond Blue,” 

Councillor Tammy Radford, who chaired council’s COVID-19 community recovery committee, thanked the committee for their ongoing contribution to help the community. 

“A number of planned projects the committee were involved in were impacted by COVID restrictions and lockdowns however the team’s support for these care packages is appreciated and will greatly assist our community. A big thank you to all involved.” 

The care packages were funded by a Victoria Government grant to support the community during the pandemic.
