It is with sadness, but great pride for her achievements, that Council announces the departure of Tabitha Williams, former Coordinator Community Support Programs, after 17 years Snowy Monaro Regional and Snowy River Shire Councils.
Working across a handful of different roles over her many years, Tab showed unwavering commitment to our community and ensured our most vulnerable residents were looked after with the level of care, kindness, compassion, empathy and commitment that they deserve.
She shone as a leader, helping the teams under her through the many changes and reforms in the homecare and disability sector over the years. Tab’s management through the Council merger was vital in making sure services to residents were maintained, while juggling the monumental task of bringing together three separate programs across the three former Council areas.
Over the past few years our Community Services Team have been challenged like never before. Bushfires, floods and COVID-19 saw the numbers of people that needed help, and the complexity of providing that help, grow increasingly over time.
COVID-19 public health orders, combined with the ACT and Victoria border closures made it extremely difficult and complicated for community transport to get residents to essential medical services across borders. Tab played a central role in ensuring our residents received the services they needed, by thinking on her feet to deliver innovative solutions – often after-hours – to ensure that our team were able to do their jobs for our community.
Tab implemented several initiatives that improved the services we deliver to the community. She transformed the Werri-Nina Centre and the activities and services on offer, oversaw an expanded Commonwealth Home Support Programme, and successfully transitioned Home Care Packages to a model of Consumer Directed Care.
Please join all of us at Council in thanking Tabitha for 17 years of commitment and service to our community. The Snowy Monaro is a better place because of her work. She will be sorely missed and we wish her all the very best for the future.
