The Central Highlands annual Seniors Month festivities are on again for young and old with 2021 bringing you an exciting month-long celebration, focusing on social connections.
Join the mayor and councillors at the annual Seniors Luncheon at the Emerald Town Hall on Tuesday 12 October 2021 from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.
‘Here in the Highlands, we are truly grateful for the seniors in our communities who play an active and vital role in making our region a great one,’ Mayor Kerry Hayes said.
‘This month-long celebration is an opportunity for us to pay thanks to our golden oldies, celebrate their achievements and catch up with friends.’
Keeping up with the tradition, the oldest male and female guests will also be crowned the Seniors Month King and Queen at the luncheon and there will be performances, trivia games and other awards, including most grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Free buses to Emerald are also available on the day to get you to the celebration. Bookings are essential and can be secured with your ticket registration.
‘With the success of last years’ gift bags, we couldn’t leave them out of the mix,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘If you are unable to attend our flagship luncheon, you can register for a council gift bag filled with goodies, hand-delivered to your door.’
To register yourself, a friend or a family member to attend the luncheon or receive a gift bag call 1300 242 686.
Community members aged 55 and over are eligible to participate. Carers are welcome to join to support community members attending.
This year, residents are also invited to join in on a range of events at library branches across the region over the month of October.
Bookings are essential for all library events. Please click on the relevant event you want to attend to register or call 1300 242 686 for assistance.
Springsure and Tieri events will be finalised in the coming days. Check back to this page for updates and to register.
