While the spring-cleaning bug has seen many residents busily decluttering, it’s important to use our hard-waste collection service correctly.
There are a few helpful hints available to ensure residents can make the most of this service, including:
Make sure you have booked your collection before you place your waste on the naturestrip (so we know it is not illegally dumped waste) Do not place your hard-waste out until the weekend before your collection Place mattresses to the side of the pile Place all e-waste together Remove fridge and freezer doors Make sure there are no hazardous or unacceptable itemsPlace small, loose items in a non-returnable box (not in plastic bags). Now is the perfect time to visit the Maroondah Council website and book your on-call hard waste collection.
A clean house without clutter in spring will leave you feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. To help you out, we offer two hard waste collections each financial year for households with a residential bin charge. You can book two single collections or one double-collection per financial year. Make sure you stick to the collection size limits. Excess material will not be collected and must be removed from the nature strip as soon as possible.
Councillor Mike Symon said hard rubbish collections are an asset.
“Let’s face it – most of us have spent more time at home than we would like recently, due to lockdown restrictions. So, it might be a good time to get your house sparkling again. But please do so respectfully ,” Cr Symon said.
Make sure you book first and don’t put your waste out until the weekend before your collection.
