Local young people are being given the opportunity to take part in a range of workshops in digital marketing, microenterprise development, mountain bike trail building and music these school holidays.
Offered as part of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s RISE (Resilient Innovative Skilled Employed) Program, the workshops aim to develop skills and encourage passions.
The session schedule is: Digital Marketing Join social media guru Lily Yeang as she discusses everything digital with two of the region’s top industry experts. After the Industry Panel, take part in a digital marketing workshop covering getting started, brand and audience, and content production. Friday 1 October 9am-11am, Q and A 12pm-3pm, Workshop Zone Room, Margaret River Youth Precinct. Suits ages 13-25 years of age
Microenterprise Development Workshop This workshop for budding entrepreneurs will show how niche businesses that operate on a small scale can be a way to generate income around your interests and hobbies. Tuesday 5 October 9am-3pm Zone Room, Margaret River Youth Precinct. Suits ages 13-25 years of age
Mountain Bike Trail Building Workshop Led by Magic Dirt Trailworx, this is an opportunity to learn how mountain bike trails are designed and constructed. Participants will have a go at designing a rhythm section in the Pines and then give it a go with their own bikes. Wednesday 6 October 10am-3.30pm Zone Room, Margaret River Youth Precinct, followed by a session in the Pines. Suits ages 13-18 years of age
Community Development Officer Katie Taylor said the RISE program has ramped up this school holidays providing choices for young people looking for something to do.
“It’s really positive to work with local people who are passionate about what they do, to create new opportunities for young people to explore their passions and develop new skills,” she said.
“These workshops are fun, free, and could open up some new opportunities too.”

The RISE program is also working together with Strings Attached Festival who are offering free workshops for young people aged under 25 years from 9-10 October 2021, including instrument making, metal 101, rig rundown, recording, starting a band and more.
