Mareeba Shire Council has resolved to reduce the sale price of five of the originally developed lots at the Mareeba Industrial Park in a bid to attract investment in the region.
The Mareeba Industrial Park was developed in stages with support from the State and Federal Governments and is one of Mareeba Shire Council’s most significant investments in the economic development of the Shire.
Mayor Angela Toppin explains, “Mareeba is a regional logistics and agricultural services hub, with the geographical benefit of bordering Cairns, the Gulf, Cape York and the Atherton Tablelands. The Industrial Park is situated a mere 12 kilometres from the recently upgraded Mareeba Airport and Council is positioning the Industrial Park as a prime opportunity for business, industry and investors.”
The vacant land was purchased in 2003 and has been developed in stages, with the most recent works on the latest stage at the Mareeba Industrial Park completed in 2020.
The five lots were priced at $65 per square metre, following a valuation which was conducted in 2019, however, Council is seeking to invigorate the economy by offering these lots for sale at $60 per square metre.
“This price reduction reflects that these blocks were developed prior to the expansion of the Industrial Park in 2020. All blocks do still benefit from the sealed wide roads suitable for all-weather access, along with the underground power, water, sewerage and phone services provided.”
Mayor Toppin encourages potential investors to consider the benefits of choosing to do business at the Mareeba Industrial Park.
“This industrial park presents a real opportunity to business and industry, with some of the most flexible land use in Queensland. Council can accommodate a range of industries including biotechnology, fuels, chemicals, manufacturing, sales, logistics and storage to name a few. Council views the Mareeba Industrial Park as the place to do business and, as Mayor, I encourage business and industry to consider Mareeba.”
