2021 My Moree exhibition unveiled

The 2021 My Moree Photography Exhibition has now been unveiled at Bank Art Museum Moree (BAMM), with over 160 photographs on display, showcasing beautiful landscapes, people, and places across the Moree Plains Shire.
The exhibition is a culmination of the 2021 My Moree Photography Competition, which took place on Facebook in August, and saw over 400 photos entered, each demonstrating the artist’s unique connection to the region.
“Once again the Moree Plains community have absolutely amazed us with their talent and love for this place, and I thank each and every person who took the time to share their Moree with us all”, said Mayor Cr Katrina Humphries.
“The resulting exhibition is really impressive, and with many staying at home these school holidays, I encourage everyone to head along to BAMM to check out the exhibition and have their say on the favourite photos by voting for the People’s Choice award.”
The 2021 exhibition is the third My Moree exhibition to be displayed at BAMM, and this third iteration has some exciting new elements for visitors.
“This year’s exhibition also features a fun interactive component, which we’re sure lots of big and small kids will enjoy these holidays”, said BAMM’s Acting Director, Kate Tuart.
“We also have a new category on display, “Transformations” which showcases the significant changes that have occurred in the landscape over the past few years, as we have gone from crippling drought, to flood, and now what looks to be a great cropping season”.
“The stunning historical photo display, created with photos from the Dhiiyaan Centre and Moree and District Historical Society is also back on display, following it being a strong crowd favourite in 2019.”
Artists with shortlisted images are in the running for the following prizes, which will be awarded at a special presentation event:
Grand Jury Prize – the photograph that best embodies the spirit of the Moree Plains.$1,000 Love Local Gift Card People's Choice – the photograph that receives the most community votes for the best photo during the exhibition at BAMM.$1,000 Love Local Gift Card My Moree – Transformations – a significant transformation demonstrated through two photographs taken some time apart.$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended People of the Plains – portrait of an individual or group.$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended Iconic Moree Plains – an image that depicts something iconic to the Moree Plains, such as buildings and landscapes. $500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended My Moree at Play – an image that shows how the community likes to have fun.$500 Love Local Gift Card for the winner, and $100 Love Local Gift Card for Highly Commended Up & Coming Talent – an image taken by a photographer under 18 years of age that showcases life on the Moree Plains. $250 Love Local Gift Card for two (2) winnersThe My Moree Photography Exhibition will be on display at BAMM until 6 November 2021.
