CBCity’s Spring school holiday program has gone online to keep school children of all ages entertained from the comfort of their own home.
There’s a wide range of virtual activities for kids up to 18 years on offer this September-October school holiday period.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said he’s delighted to see Council continue to provide fun and engaging activities to help kids thrive despite the challenges of lockdown.
“While thousands of kids across the City will be spending their school holidays at home, we’ve got a diverse range of activities to help keep them entertained and take the weight off their parents and families,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Our school holiday program takes the stress out of coming up with fun ideas to keep kids occupied at home. All you need to do is register!”
Hand-picked by Belmore Youth Resource Centre (BYRC), Active Canterbury-Bankstown, Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre (MIISC), Canterbury-Bankstown’s nine Libraries and Knowledge Centres and Bankstown Arts Centre, the activities cater to kids with all interests.
Some activities include:
Making clay planter pots in the School Holidays Clay Club;Conducting science experiments with food, run by Science Viva;Creating something special for Grandparents using objects around the house;Chatter Books club and online Read and Sing;Creative craft projects; andA basketball trick shot competition, and so much more.“I especially hope that young people will participate in our online clubs where they can take part in fun activities, learn about wellbeing and connect with other likeminded people,” Mayor Asfour said.
“With kids not being able to hang out with their friends in person these holidays, it’s more important than ever to help them maintain social connections in a COVID-Safe way.”
“Those aged 12-18 years can make new friends and have a laugh in BYRC’s Youth Check In, or those slightly younger can catch up in an online space with Tween Chats.”
Most activities are free-of-charge or require a small fee to cover costs of materials sent to your doorstep.
