If you or someone you know are considering reaching out for emotional and mental health support for the first time, you might be wondering where to start.
Lithgow-specific mental health products are now available, showing who you can call in our local area to access free counselling and other support. Help is available for anyone who needs a hand.
Floods, bushfires, cyclones, and drought have always been a part of the Australian landscape, and in recent times hazards like the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly impacted our way of life. In particular, Lithgow has had to deal with disasters in rapid succession.
A factsheet, fridge magnet and wallet card, have been produced to raise awareness of normal reactions to traumatic events, reduce the stigma of seeking mental health support, and direct people to local touchpoints in the Lithgow area. It contains information on signs that someone might need extra support, strategies that can help people who are struggling, information on free counselling and essential support.
The products have been developed by the National Recovery and Resilience Agency (NRRA) in partnership with Resilience NSW, Lithgow City Council, Wentworth Healthcare and other local partners.
