Bring the family along to a fun filled day of rides and attractions, live entertainment, food trucks and more at the 2021 Kidz Awesome Play for Telethon fun day, sponsored by the City of Wanneroo.

The annual event, which helps raise vital funds for Telethon, will be held at the Wanneroo Showgrounds on Sunday 10 October and is expected to attract thousands of people from all over Perth.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City was delighted to be the major sponsor for the community event.

“Telethon provides vital equipment for children in hospital, critical services for children with disabilities and life-changing opportunities for disadvantaged children and their families,” Mayor Roberts said.

“This event is not only an exciting day full of carnival rides, market stalls, food trucks, and live stage performances, it is also an opportunity to raise funds to help Telethon deliver support and services.

“Through ticket sales, donations and food and drink sold on the day, the 2020 fun day raised $29,000 and I would love to see this year’s event do even better.”

2020 Little Telethon Star and City of Wanneroo local, Eamon Doak (8) said he was looking forward to attending the event with his family.

Eamon has a genetic condition called Usher Syndrome type 1D, which affects his hearing and eyesight. His mother, Bronwyn Doak, said the support their family had received from Telethon had been a blessing during tough times.

“Telethon means the world to us, because not only do they raise important funds for sick children, but they become part of your family and walk this journey with your child or children,” Ms Doak said.

“They are incredibly generous, thoughtful and loving, bringing light into a dark space.

“I would encourage everyone to attend the event. It’s an awesome day out full of fun and laughter, and you are going to make a huge difference to children and their families.”

The 2021 event will also see some special guests make their way to the Wanneroo Showgrounds for the day. Eamon has set his sights on meeting one VIP in particular.

“I am hoping to see Fat Cat. How can you not love that big cuddly cat?” Eamon said.
