Hello spring! Put on your gardening gloves, sharpen the pruning shears, and get ready for the City of Fremantle’s green waste verge collection starting next week.
The green waste pick-up for residents in Area A – which includes the suburbs of Fremantle, North Fremantle, White Gum Valley and O’Connor – will start from Monday 4 October.
Residents in Area B – which includes the suburbs of South Fremantle, Beaconsfield, Hilton and Samson – will have their green waste collected from Monday 11 October.
The City will collect a maximum of two trailer loads of green waste from each property, including tree trunks, branches and prunings up to 1.5m in length and 30cm in diameter.
Green waste can be placed on the verge up to two days before the collection date.
Residents are asked to place their waste on the verge as neatly as possible, away from walls, fences, power poles and trees and ensuring it doesn’t obstruct footpaths, driveways and sprinklers.
Piles of leaves and grass clippings won’t be collected, but these can be put into your green-lidded FOGO bin.
Other items that won’t be collected include general rubbish, dug out lawn, weeds, roots, and sand or soil.
Exotic beetle Polyphagous Shot-Hole Borer (PSHB) has recently been detected in Fremantle, if you suspect infestation in your garden while getting ready for the green waste verge collection, please report it to the Pest and Disease Information Service on 9368 3080 or email [email protected].
