Council has endorsed the 2021-2025 Municipal Early Years Plan: CREATE at the Scheduled Council Meeting on 22 September.
The plan is the final product of extensive community and stakeholder consultation in late 2019 and early 2021 and outlines the work Council will engage in to support children aged birth to eight years and their families.
Feedback was gathered from over 980 community members, including over 200 children, during a community wide consultation, and the following presentation of the draft plan to community for feedback.
Director Corporate and Community, Gina Lyons said that Council is pleased to present the endorsed plan to the community.
“We heard from a lot of children, their families and other key stakeholders in community in the creation of this plan, through pop-up events, face-to-face discussions, online consultations and through individual submissions and surveys.
“Our new plan incorporates this targeted community input with whole-of-Council priorities that address broader community needs and population trends in the Macedon Ranges shire,” she said.
The plan will provide a framework to develop Council’s response to significant sector reform, including the introduction of three-year-old kindergarten and school readiness funding. The plan will also support Council’s strategic planning, engagement and advocacy of children aged birth to eight and their families.
The plan is available to view on Council’s website. To request a hard copy version of the plan, or of the accompanying summary booklet, contact Council on (03) 5422 0333 or [email protected] or drop into a customer service centre.
