Murray River Council has adopted a refreshed Community Engagement Policy, another step in the development of new internal processes to better connect with customers.
The policy outlines how Council plans to deliver engagement practices and work towards open and active relationships with the community.
Murray River Council mayor, Cr Chris Bilkey said Council is always looking to improve how it engages with residents.
“Reviewing policies like this is a good way to remind us of our engagement responsibilities so that we are better placed to inform and consult when important projects pop up; whether it be top-level plans or every day planning matters.”
“Ultimately the goal is that Council’s plans, policies and programs better reflect the interests and concerns of the community, and that really is about open and transparent engagement and improving our organisational capacity in this space.”
Cr Bilkey said the review was timely due to the upcoming development of a new Community Strategic Plan.
The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is the 10-year plan that outlines the community’s aspirations and long-term vision for Murray River Council. The CSP informs the programs and services the organisation delivers in the shorter term.
“Once 2022 hits, this council will be undertaking some extensive engagement right across our area to ensure we’ve really captured the desires of our residents when it comes to service and project planning over the coming years.”
“We want you to connect with us and have your say on the delivery of this plan, so watch this space,” Cr Bilkey said.
