The virtual stage is set for the region’s musical talents, with Council announcing the finalists for its local music competition Groovin’ from the Garage.
Throughout September, local musicians were invited to submit a video of themselves performing an original, unpublished song for the chance to be featured on Council’s online platforms and win great prizes.
Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said she was thrilled to see such great uptake of the competition, which showcases that its “the people that make it“.
“For the second year in a row, there’s been a fantastic response to this initiative receiving 21 submissions from a variety of artists right across the region,” Cr Maguire said.
“The Western Downs is an active, vibrant community and this program gives our local talents a platform to express their creativity and share that with the wider community.
Community members are now invited to help decide the winners by viewing the finalist’s submissions on Council’s Facebook platform Western Downs Invites You.
“Those who place in the top three will win gift vouchers from local businesses to further promote the importance of buying local, as well as have the opportunity to perform live at a future Council Groovin’ in the Garden event.”
