Vaccination Rates Lithgow LGA – October 2021

It is fantastic to see Lithgow’s total rates of vaccination steadily climbing in past weeks. However, we must continue to seize opportunities for vaccination and encourage others to do the same.

Lithgow City Council closely monitors all local matters related to the COVID pandemic, including testing rates, vaccination rates, community recovery and regional impacts. This has allowed Council to advocate strongly for testing clinics and vaccination hubs, while also offering easy interpretations of relevant data through Council’s own website.

Current figures place the Lithgow local government area at 88% first dose vaccination and 72.5% second dose vaccination. This is great to see and shows that people are doing what is right for our community. However, the rate of first dose take-up is slowing.

“In a post-lockdown environment, our greatest protection from the threat of COVID-19 is good personal hygiene and vaccination”, said Lithgow City Council’s Mayor, Councillor Ray Thompson. “I feel strongly for the businesses, sporting teams, community groups and families that have suffered during the lockdown. For this reason, I ask all residents, community groups and business owners to encourage your family, friends, colleagues and employees to get vaccinated”, said Mayor Thompson. “I am pleased that Council itself has introduced incentives for vaccination to encourage all its employees to get the jab, and if possible, I hope that others do the same. For some, a little encouragement and support is all it takes. We must all band together and do what is right to support and protect each other.”

Lithgow City Council continues to work closely with NSW Health to ready the city for a return to normal as soon as possible. The Council supports an open, healthy, and prosperous community, but vaccination is critical to this outcome.
