It’s out with the old, in with the new as the Fremantle Library team gets ready for their new chapter at Walyalup Koort.
To prepare for its move to Walyalup Civic Centre, Fremantle Library has organised a book sale.
It’s on now until Friday 29 October at Fremantle Oval, with thousands of items up for grabs including a huge selection of non-fiction and fiction novels, children’s books, DVDs, CDs, toys from the Freo Toy Library and more—all priced between 20c and $2. Who doesn’t love a deal that good?
Come down and get your Christmas shopping done, or simply treat yourself with some cheap goodies – there’s something for everyone.
You can also find mini community libraries at your favourite local cafés such as Little Boy Blue around Freo – a fun way to take a book, leave a book and discover something new to read.
Fremantle Library Manager Jayne Cleave said staff were clearing out old stock to make way for the new 2500 books that will be added to the library’s new collection.
“The amazing new library at Walyalup Civic Centre will feature more than 28,000 loanable items, including carefully curated collections to expand our popular and engaging hot reads and classics collections, while also increasing our parenting, graphic novels, philosophy and poetry titles,” Ms Cleave said.
“It’s going to be an incredible space for our community, with 110% increase in floor space across two floors and extended opening hours.
“There will be heaps of new technology, including 22 new public computers with wheelchair accessible desks, new gaming consoles and gaming networks, a 3D printer, interactive screens, faster Wi-Fi and loanable iPads.
“Overall, we can’t wait to invite our community back to a more central, more inviting and more pleasant space to spend time in.”
The library’s temporary location at Fremantle Oval is open seven days a week, including 9am–6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am–5pm Friday, 9am–1pm Saturday and 11am–3pm Sunday.
