The City of Swan encourages residents to shine a spotlight on local champions of all ages and backgrounds who have made a positive impact in your community.

If you know a person or a community group that has made a difference in education, health, business, sports, arts, the environment, or another area that enhances community wellbeing, you can nominate them for the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Awards categories are:

• Community Citizen of the Year

• Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years of age)

• Senior Community Citizen of the Year (over 65 years of age)

• Active Citizenship (Group or Event)

Nominations should be based on an individual or group who has:

• Contributed significantly to building harmony and inclusion in the local community

• Demonstrated leadership on a community issue resulting in enhanced community life

• Implemented a significant initiative which has brought about positive change and added value to community life

• Inspiring qualities as a role model for the community.

The City is proud to support and participate in the award program run by Auspire – Australia Day Council.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said there were many unsung heroes in the community who deserve recognition.

“There are so many people in our community, from volunteers to entrepreneurs, coaches and mentors, who give their time across all areas so generously and selflessly, to create positive change and make the community better for all of us,” he said.

“This is their time to shine and be recognised for their outstanding achievements.”

Nominations close Sunday, October 31 2021.

Winners will be announced as part of the City’s Australia Day celebrations on January 26, 2022.
