Australia Day Awards nominations extended

Published on 25 October 2021

Nominations for the 2022 Australia Day Awards have been extended to November 7 to give people extra time to nominate inspirational locals.

Nominations for the Australia Day Awards are open in the categories of Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Youth Encouragement Award.

Australia Day Advisory Group Chair and Deputy Mayor, Christine Adams, said she hoped the extra time would prompt more nominations.

"The response has been a little slower than most years, which may be due to COVID-19 and the focus on coming out of lockdown," said Cr Adams.

"Hopefully over the next week everyone settles back in and we see some worthy locals nominated for these important awards.

"It would be nice to start the new year by recognising some inspirational people and all the hard work they've done to better our community, especially given the hardship we've all faced due to COVID-19."
