A new field for community sport will be added to the list thanks to an agreement between Council and the NSW Department of Education.

The currently under-utilised school sportsfield at Freshwater Senior Campus will be upgraded and used as a full-sized field by both students during the school day and our community on afternoons and weekends.

Under the license agreement, Council will make improvements to the existing field to bring it up to a higher standard and do ongoing maintenance.

Given the huge demand for sportsfields on the Northern Beaches and not many opportunities to create new ones Council continues to explore all opportunities. There is a similar arrangement in place at the Narrabeen Sports High School and Council is talking to the Department of Education about the opportunity to access other school sportsfields in the future,”

Temporary fences are up while the levelling and returfing works take place.

It is anticipated the works will take approximately six weeks, weather permitting, and the field will remain closed for use until the beginning of 2022 to allow the new turf to establish. The field will then be available for local sport.
