With NSW just beginning to emerge from its tightest ever Covid-19 lockdown, Illuminate Wollondilly has been rescheduled for May 2022 with the expectation that restrictions for major events will be fully lifted well before the start of the popular arts and cultural festival.

Wollondilly Council is hoping for the festival to be a time of celebration and renewal for the community and a way to bring visitors to the area to help boost the local economy.

This will be the sixth year for the popular arts and cultural festival, which is known for attracting thousands of visitors to Picton throughout the day and night. The 2022 event will be bigger than ever, running over three days on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May.

Mayor Robert Khan said, “We want Illuminate Wollondilly to be a standout event, to help us celebrate with the community and visitors as we move into a time of more freedoms with higher vaccination rates.”

“We hope Illuminate Wollondilly will provide a boost for our local businesses, artists and performers who have been doing it tough over the last two years.”

“I would like to thank all our partner sponsors for their patience as we reorganise the program, and the staff from Council who are working hard to bring this event together despite the ongoing challenges.” he said.

“We will continue to monitor the Public Health Orders and make sure this is a Covid-safe event for everyone who attends.”

Illuminate is the only event of its kind in Wollondilly. As well as the spectacular building illuminations, next year’s program is expected to include a long table dinner, a Jazz festival and some headline music acts.
