Shire residents have an extra three weeks to nominate their inspirational a local community members for the 2022 Australia Day awards.
Nominations for the Shire’s Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the year and Community Event of the Year awards will now close on Monday 8 November.
Mayor Ruth Gstrein invited community members to nominate fellow Shire residents and groups to say thank you for their contributions during the past year or over a longer period.
“We are very fortunate to have many passionate, proactive and community-minded people in our Shire,” Cr Gstrein said.
“They give generously of their time and put in tremendous effort to improve lives in their local and wider communities.
These awards are an opportunity to formally acknowledge their contribution to making our Shire a great place to live.”
The awards will be presented as part of the Shire’s Australia Day Celebrations in Cobden on Tuesday 26 January 2022.
Details of the celebrations will be confirmed closer to the date, subject to coronavirus social distancing requirements at the time.
