The search for Gannawarra’s top residents is on.
Nominations are now open for Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2022 Australia Day Awards, which recognise the contribution residents make to their communities.
“Presented annually as part of Australia Day celebrations, these awards recognise residents who help make the Gannawarra a great place to live,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“First presented in 1995, these awards have recognised individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the groups, organisations and communities they are a part of.
“The 2021 Citizen of the Year, Pattie McDonald has assisted with numerous Murrabit-based groups for 30-plus years, whilst the Young Citizen of the Year, Tayla Hore is a passionate advocate for the Gannawarra’s young people.
Nominations are sought for the following award categories:
Citizen of the Year; and Young Citizen of the Year (for residents aged 15-24 years of age on Wednesday, 26 January 2022).“I encourage residents to nominate their community’s quiet achievers for these prestigious accolades,” Mayor Gillingham said.
Nominations can be completed online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/Australia_Day_Awards. Nominations close at 9am on Monday, 29 November 2021.
