New food market coming to Junction Square
City of Wodonga 19 Oct 2021

The organiser of the popular Self Made Market is bringing another market to Wodonga's Junction Square.

The Murray River Market - Pastures, Plates and Platters event will kick off on Thursday, October 21 from 4pm to 8pm.

Bec Hay from Ultimate Events said it was time to put local food producers and wineries back in front of people.

"I had been toying with the idea of adding a produce section in the Self Made Market but I think it deserves its own event and its own love," she said.

"I have been talking to lots of people and I know there's a gap for this type of market here in Wodonga."

Mrs Hay said the event was about getting farmers and foodies together in one place.

"It's a great chance to come and have dinner and do some food shopping," she said.

Among the food stalls will be Australia's first and only pumpkin seed growers.

Pumpkin Seeds Australia have a range of pumpkin seed oils, various flavours of seeds (including chocolate coated), dukkah, and pumpkin seed meal.

Other stalls will include Stringybark Bakery, Ovens River Nuts, Gamila At Beechworth, Kensal Estate Wines, Red Elk Beverage Co, Riverina Spices, Riverina Jerky and Red Gum Woodfired Pizza.

The fortnightly event will run until December 16 and then it will start back up again in January and run until March.

Wodonga Council will have a stall at the market to chat with people about the council's draft Open Space Strategy.

We want to know how you use Wodonga’s open spaces and what you think is important for our open spaces going forward.
