Redcliffe Jetty maintenance work

Moreton Bay Regional Council will carry out important maintenance works atop the Redcliffe Jetty, to rectify issues with the rotunda and visitor information centre found during a routine inspection.

Works are scheduled to start on Tuesday, 5 October 2021 and are expected to finish in approximately eight weeks, weather permitting.

Works will include fixing parts of the jetty’s balustrading, posts and light poles, roof struts and battens; and replacing the information centre’s awning at the jetty entrance.

The jetty will remain open during these works, but some sections along the jetty will be barricaded for public safety.

A temporary side access path is also being constructed to the north of the Visitor Information Centre to allow the public to enter and access the jetty areas safely during these works.

Protecting the Moreton Bay Marine Park is a priority for all of us and during maintenance activities we will do everything we can to protect the surrounding area. We are trialling for the first time new laser cleaning technology to disintegrate dust and particles associated with the works before the hit the water. This will be delivered by local company Sensus and Phoenix, to help reduce any impacts on the natural environment.

This is a great outcome and demonstrates Council’s commitment to using local business and innovative technologies to achieve benefits for the local economy and employment in the region.
