City launches new and improved Visit Fremantle website
City of Fremantle 4 Nov 2021

The City of Fremantle has launched a new and improved tourism website to make it even easier for visitors to plan their next Fremantle adventure.

The new visitfremantle.com.au website, which went live today, is the latest initiative under the City of Fremantle’s Destination Marketing Strategic Plan.

Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said the improved Visit Fremantle website takes the marketing of Fremantle to a new level.

“The new website is much more user friendly, has a lot more information and a much better capacity to reflect the Fremantle brand values of sea, spirit and soul,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

“It’s a digital gateway for visitors planning a trip to Fremantle and is really clever in the way it guides people through all the different things there are to see and do in Fremantle, makes connections between neighbourhoods and experiences to help people tailor their perfect Fremantle adventure.

“A build your own itinerary feature enables visitors to pick and choose their favourite spots to create their own bespoke visit to WA’s favourite seaside city.

“It also features a convenient new booking platform which will allow people to book accommodation, tours and other experiences all in the one place.”

The website is the central platform for all of the City’s destination marketing activity and is supported by a social media following of over 100 000, monthly newsletters, school holiday activations, event sponsorship and major campaign activity.

“From a business perspective, it’s a lot more interactive by allowing local traders to add their business and event listings, and the industry section has information on how local businesses can engage with the City’s destination marketing program, participate in campaigns and get updates on what’s happening,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

Kidogo Arthouse owner Joanna Robertson said the new THIS IS FREMANTLE website was very impressive.

“At last a ‘one-stop-shop’ where locals and tourists from anywhere in the world can find out how amazing, unique, rich and diverse Fremantle is,” Ms Robertson said.

“This wonderfully inclusive platform is a game-changer for Fremantle, as now the City and Fremantle’s business community can closely collaborate in a new way to make Fremantle known as Australia’s most exciting place to hang-out, eat, shop, stay and play and enjoy WA’s best live music scene.”

The new website will be promoted through a major digital marketing campaign, and is accompanied by a new THIS IS FREMANTLE annual holiday planner publication.

Mayor Fitzhardinge said the new THIS IS FREMANTLE annual holiday planner was the perfect companion piece to the new website.

“The holiday planner is not just another tourism brochure. It’s an 80-page snapshot of Fremantle, the most eclectic and spirited seaside destination in the world,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

“In the pages of the magazine you’ll find stories of Fremantle, world renowned music that has piqued international interest, award winning restaurants, an incredible pedigree of breweries, local legends, Indigenous history and neighbourhoods that have witnessed significant moments in WA’s history.

“Hard copies of the magazine will be distributed to visitor centres across the state, as well as at hotels, cafes and attractions.

“It will also be made available for distribution by Tourism Australia, Tourism WA, Destination Perth, Business Events Perth and other industry partners at trade events and conferences.”

The new Visit Fremantle website includes information on Fremantle’s new and completely refurbished hotels, apartments and historic cottages; new small bars, independent retail shops, tours and attractions; festivals and events; live music and playgrounds, beaches and parks.

It also features special sections on Freo’s distinctive neighbourhoods, as well as tailored itineraries ranging from a short day trip to a family holiday and what to do when the rellies come to stay.

The THIS IS FREMANTLE annual is available at Fremantle Visitor Centre and other visitor centres across the state.
