The Central Highlands Regional Council are urging locals to celebrate National Agriculture Day (AgDay) by thanking a farmer this November.
‘AgDay is an annual celebration for Australia’s farmers, whose crucial dedication and contribution keep our community and the whole of Australia fuelled with the supply of food and fibre,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
National AgDay, now in its fourth consecutive year, helps to raise awareness of the contribution the agriculture industry has in Australia.
‘This year, we are celebrating by asking residents to help us recognise local farmers across our region,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘From cattle, citrus and cotton, to grapes, macadamias and melons, agriculture is the beating heart of the Highlands and the people behind it all deserve a pat on the back.
‘Register a farmer on our website today and they will receive a signed card from myself, on behalf of the whole Central Highlands community. All registered farmers will also be entered into the draw to win a hamper full of local produce.’
