Enjoy 12 days of Christmas in Fremantle
City of Fremantle 18 Nov 2021

There’s sunshine and all the festive feels in Freo as we slide into the summer holiday season with a program of activities celebrating all things Christmas.

From Thursday to Sunday each week in December, the City of Fremantle will be presenting 12 days of holiday fun in the lead up to Christmas.

A highlight will be the immersive light show in Walyalup Koort on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 December, where Christmas-themed images will be projected on the Fremantle Town Hall and St John’s Church. Santa will make an appearance, and there will be roving entertainment throughout the evening. Free tickets are available now.

The spirit of Christmas will also return to the heart of Fremantle with Carols in Walyalup Koort, plus families can go on an adventure in search of a cheeky Elf on a Shelf.

Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said this Christmas would be a magical time to visit WA’s favourite port city.

“Fremantle’s heart will be pumping this Christmas with the 12 days of Christmas program and the opening of FOMO, Walyalup Civic Centre and Walyalup Koort playground,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

“For people who haven’t been to Freo for a while, the festive season is the perfect opportunity to come down and reacquaint yourself with the heart of Fremantle.”

The Elf on a Shelf Adventure Trail will set the kids on the trail of some naughty elves who have escaped the North Pole for a seaside holiday, and are hiding throughout the city.

Kids can follow a special Christmas trail map to find them all, with great prizes to be won while discovering what these silly elves have been up to.

Community Christmas Carols will hit the stage on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 December with the Australian Girls Choir, Fremantle Women’s Choir, Voicemale, The Glyde Ins and The Production Academy leading a traditional festive singalong in Walyalup Koort.

Bring along a picnic rug and enjoy an evening under the stars. Buster will be there to keep the kids entertained, along with some Christmas fairies in the new playground. Free tickets are available now.

Other Christmas activities in Fremantle this year include the ‘Tis the Season Saturday Sessions every Saturday morning in Walyalup Koort, with free Christmas-themed children’s activities, entertainment and workshops.

For the grown-ups, Fremantle’s coolest DJs will be spinning their decks every Thursday and Friday lunchtime throughout the 12 days of Christmas, while Festive Hour between 5 and 6pm will have lots of special offers and activities at participating businesses.
