Ararat Pound sees surge of pets for adoption

The Ararat Pound has seen several surrenders over the past few months, with the arrival of three new pets this week.

Beaumont, a six-year-old male Brindle Staffy, Peppi, a 7-year-old male Jack Russel Terrier along with Torty, a two-year-old tortoiseshell female cat, are looking for their fur-ever homes.

Ararat Rural City CEO Dr Tim Harrison said changes in people’s circumstances have seen more four-legged friends being surrendered at the Ararat pound.

“Council’s community safety officers work closely with rescue groups to ensure surrendered pets can find a safe, suitable and loving home,” Dr Harrison said.

“As a no-kill pound, we are committed to animal welfare and do our best to give our four-legged friends a second chance at life.

“Council offers a reasonable adoption fee of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats which covers the cost of desexing, initial vaccinations, microchipping.

“Get in touch with our community safety officers if you’re looking to adopt or would like to arrange a meet-and-greet with one of the animals.”

TORTY - Tortoiseshell female, approximately 2-years-old, very friendly and shy. Torty needs a loving home to gain more confidence – she will be a good companion.

BEAUMONT – Brindle Staffy, 6-years-old, Male, very energetic and needs to be in a one-dog home.

PEPPI - Jack Russell Terrier, 7-years-old. Male, quiet, loveable, friendly and loves to be around people. Happy and content with constant company, easy-going and gets along well with other animals.
