Update: unfortunately the book launch planned for Monday 6 December has been cancelled.
Friday 3 December is International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD).
IDPWD is a global United Nations event that celebrates the achievements and contributions of people with disability, and how this enriches our community and culture.
Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “International Day of People with Disability is about breaking down barriers and celebrating abilities of all kind.”
“It also aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. The way we understand disability and ability is changing rapidly, for the better.
“The incredible experiences, fortitude, and creativity of people with disability is astounding. In a world that often tells them they can’t, people with disability continue to shine and teach us all that the real limitations are the ones we create.”
Unfortunately, the IDPWD book launch with local author, Tish Peiris, has been cancelled.
More information is available on the International Day of People with Disability page.
