Wollondilly and Wingecarribee Shire Councils have teamed up with Resilience NSW and the National Recovery and Resilience Agency to host a three day virtual Response, Recovery and Resilience Expo from Friday 19 November to Sunday 21 November 2021.
Residents of both Wollondilly and Wingecarribee Shires have fresh experiences of living through a natural disaster, so the councils have joined forces to make sure their communities have the best information available on how to access ongoing support.
The expo will provide information about who to contact at different stages of an emergency and will include links for participants to access, such as videos, documents and useful tips.
Residents will learn what they can do to make their families, friends and pets safer, by knowing the risks and planning for what actions they will take now and during an emergency.
To make the expo safe and inclusive for everyone who would like to attend, this will be a virtual event, held online over three days.
The first session from 9am to 1pm on Friday 19 November is about rebuilding and understanding Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) ratings; with guest speakers from Architect Assist, planners from both councils, Bushfire Consulting Services, NSW Rural Fire Service, Blackash and Master Builders Association. The second session is on Saturday 20 November from 9am to 11:30am. Participants will hear from keynote speaker, Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons from Resilience NSW, along with representatives from Legal Aid and the Insurance Council of Australia. The final session is on Sunday 21 November from 10am to12:30pm and will feature guest speaker Anne Leadbeater and the local recovery support service, Community Links Wellbeing. The expo is free, but numbers are limited so registrations are essential to secure a place and access the full, interactive experience.
Attendees should register for the day/s that suit them, but can pop in and out of the sessions to fit with individual schedules.
