Outdoor swimming pool season commences

The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are now open for the 2021/22 season.

Both facilities, managed by Gannawarra Shire Council, will open at 3pm today, with the venues to operate from 3pm to 7pm during the remainder of November.

“Council welcomes residents and visitors back to these popular facilities for what shapes to be a busy summer period,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“There will be numerous activities on offer during the season, ranging from giant inflatable sessions and fun days through to water aerobics and early morning lap swimming,”

The traditional summer operating hours of 10am to 8pm will come into effect from Wednesday, 1 December and be in place until Monday, 28 February 2022.

Operating hours will revert to 3pm to 7pm Tuesday, 1 March 2022, with the season to end at 7pm on Sunday, 13 March 2022.

“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”

As part of Council’s adherence to the State Government’s Victoria’s Roadmap: Delivering the National Plan, all visitors who are 16 years and older will need to have received both COVID-19 vaccinations and provide verification of their vaccination status or have a valid medical exemption to enter either facility.

“Acceptable proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status includes displaying your COVID-19 Digital Certificate via the Service Victoria app or saved to your smart phone,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“A printed version of your COVID-19 Digital Certificate, Immunisation History Statement or valid medical exemption, together with photo identification, will also be accepted.
