Time is running out to nominate outstanding Gannawarra Shire Council residents for the 2022 Australia Day Awards, with nominations closing at 9am on Monday, 29 November 2021.
A highlight of Australia Day celebrations throughout the Gannawarra, the awards recognise the contribution residents make to their communities.
“Council thanks those who have taken the time so far to nominate residents for these prestigious awards,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“Council’s Australia Day Awards provide a fitting opportunity to give worthy recognition to people from across the Gannawarra, who devote their time and efforts to make their community a better place.
“Previous winners have all demonstrated a commitment to the groups and organisations they are a part of. The 2021 Citizen of the Year, Pattie McDonald has assisted with numerous Murrabit-based groups for 30-plus years, whilst the Young Citizen of the Year, Tayla Hore is a passionate advocate for the Gannawarra’s young people.”
Nominations are sought for the following award categories:
Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year (for residents aged 15-24 years of age on Wednesday, 26 January 2022).“If you know of someone who is a valued contributor to their community, please take the time between now and 9am on 29 November to submit a nomination form,” Mayor Gillingham said.
Nomination forms are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/Australia_Day_Awards, with award winners to be announced during Australia Day celebrations occurring throughout the Gannawarra.
