SAMM Fest, which is all about Skate, Art, Music and Mental Health, is set to entertain young locals at the Margaret River Youth Precinct this weekend.

An initiative of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and its Youth Advisory Council (YAC), the jam-packed, free event will be held this Saturday 13 November from 3pm to 7.30pm.

With live music by Sky Cave and other young local bands, as well as a rock climbing wall, roller skating workshops, photo booth, mental health information and food there will be heaps of activities to choose from.

Plus, the Soggy Bones Skate Jam will kick off at 6pm and run until the end of the event.

Community Development Trainee Shannon Walker said the event was put together by young people, for young people and is a way to celebrate young local talent and promote positive wellbeing.

“As well as the talented young bands at the event, we have got young Videographer Joshua Yates who participated in the RISE program to capture the event in all its excitement,” she said.

“Young people are encouraged to bring their family and friends along to listen to some music, have something to eat and get involved in the activities. SAMM Fest is an inclusive, drug and alcohol-free event and it’s a great chance to connect and have some fun.”

“Come along and get involved in whatever way you like. Whether you want to enjoy having a skate to some tunes or if you’d rather check it out from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone,” she said.

SAMM Fest 2021 is proudly run by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and its Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) with support from the Local Drug Action Group, Soggy Bones and Mindful Margaret River and will be held at the Margaret River Youth Precinct, 31 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.
