Council Meeting
Thursday 18 November 2021 was date of the final scheduled meeting of the current Council term, with the local government election set for Saturday 4 December 2021.
Old Adaminaby Boat Ramp and Carpark Extension
Improved access to Lake Eucumbene for locals and tourists at Old Adaminaby has been secured, with the approval of a development application to extend and modernise the local boat ramp and carpark.
The area being redeveloped is already a popular spot to launch boats onto Lake Eucumbene, and the improved infrastructure will encourage more people to visit and pass through Adaminaby and Old Adaminaby.
Major Funding for Infrastructure
Councillors approved substantial funding for a wide range of important infrastructure upgrades and maintenance projects across the region.
$916,800 has been committed for the eagerly awaited bridge over the Michelago Causeway.
A maximum of $2,100,000 has been budgeted for the repairs and upgrades needed to ensure Jindabyne Pool is safe and structurally sound well into the future. Any funds out of this $2,100,000 not spent on Jindabyne Pool will be used instead for rural road re-sheeting.
A minimum of $1,090,680 will be put towards the road maintenance budget, specifically for rural road re-sheeting. Any money saved from the allotted budget for Jindabyne Pool will be brought into the available funding as additional funds for rural road re-sheeting.
There were also new funding commitments for maintenance and upgrade works at Cooma Showground, Cooma North Ridge, Jindabyne Holiday Park, Cooma Youth Centre and Yallambee Lodge in Cooma.
Draft Regional Trails Masterplan
Council voted unanimously to endorse the public exhibition of the Draft Regional Trails Masterplan at the Thursday 18 November 2021 Snowy Monaro Regional Council meeting, a key part of the strategy to transform the region into a year-round tourist destination.
The Regional Trails Masterplan is a long-term plan that sets out Council’s priorities, goals and aspirations in building and sustaining a world class trail network for our region.
Developed in consultation with leading sport and recreation firm Tredwell Management over the course of almost a year from November 2020, the plan will play a major role in securing a strong and healthy tourism industry in the Snowy Monaro into the future as well as providing locals with some great recreational opportunities in their own backyard.
COVID requirements and abuse of staff

Council offices and waste facilities are considered essential services and do not require proof of double vaccination to enter.
All other public facilities operated by Council, including pools and libraries, are required to ask for proof of double vaccination and mask wearing on entry. We can be fined on the spot if we don’t.
Abuse of our staff will not be tolerated and the police will be notified if required.
Please do the right thing and respect our employees – they are also your fellow community members.
