Campbelltown bushwalkers and nature lovers will soon be able to enjoy upgrades to the trails throughout the scenic Keith Longhurst Reserve in Kentlyn.

Stage one works have begun and will include trail upgrades, with new way finding and directional signage and car park upgrades to follow in 2022.

“Keith Longhurst Reserve is an important part of the Georges River bushland corridor and home to The Basin and Old Ford Rd, some of our most prized local gems,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“The reserve is filled with a diverse range of fauna and flora as well as being one of our most popular bushwalking areas so these trail upgrades will help protect our environment and be a welcome improvement for those who love getting out and about amongst nature,” Cr Brticevic said.

The stage one works will see the installation of stairs and reducing trail diversions to help erosion management and improve community experience and safety as well as reducing the environmental impact of foot traffic.

The works are co-funded by Council and $40,000 from the NSW Crown Land Reserves Improvement Fund.

Stage one works will continue until Christmas and some short trail closures will occur during this period.
