Cardinia Shire Council is calling on the Koo Wee Rup and broader community, and passionate skaters, BMX, and scooter riders to have their say on upgrades to the Cochrane Park skate park.
Council recently awarded the tender to construct the upgraded skate park to one of Australia’s premier skate park builders Grind Projects, who will work with Baseplate, the designer for the popular Gembrook skate park in 2018.
“We’ll be hosting pop up information sessions at Koo Wee Rup Primary School, Koo Wee Rup Secondary College as well as at the park itself so we capture feedback particularly from the younger members of our community who use the park,” explained Cardinia Shire Mayor, Cr Jeff Springfield.
“We’re also meeting with community groups based at Cochrane Park so their feedback is captured.
“The community can also can jump online and have their say at www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay”
Westernport Councillor Kaye Cameron encouraged locals to get involved.
“Sports like skating have become more and more popular and it’s time to upgrade Cochrane Park skate park so it meets the needs of our growing community.
“We want to know what you like and dislike, how and when you use the skate park and what features you’d like to see included.
“We’ll then use your feedback to design the concept before another round of community engagement prior to construction,“ explained Cr Cameron.
Consultation closes 31 January 2022.
