The film projector at Camel Lane Theatre is set to be switched on again.
The much-missed entertainment venue has been allocated funds by the Shire to ensure its safe reopening in time for the January school summer holidays.
With an exciting program set to hit the silver screen in 2022, the re-opening of Camel Lane Theatre will be a popular with the Carnarvon community.
“The first step is getting the building and equipment tested and back up to a safe standard. We aim to achieve this by the end of December and appreciate the patience of the community while we work through these priorities,” said Shire President Eddie Smith.
“Then we will train staff to operate equipment and will have the cinema open for business for the remainder of the school summer holidays in January.”
The popular cinema was forced to remain closed after COVID shutdowns and staff shortages combined to keep doors shut. The local community made it clear that the chance to go to the movies was very much missed, and the Shire is therefore delighted to make this announcement.
“We are very pleased that the community is keen for the cinema to re-open and hope to see strong support from the community once it is re-opened. We are more than happy to discuss this in more detail with anyone who has an interest in the forthcoming movie program,” said Cr Smith.
