Kardinia Early Learning will operate the Timboon Children’s Centre for the next three years under a new lease agreement with Corangamite Shire Council.
The early childhood services provider, which operates centres in Geelong, Warrnambool, Ballarat and Bannockburn, will take over from current operator Sparkways from 1 January 2022.
Ward Councillor Kate Makin said Council had been working to secure a provider through an Expressions of Interest process to ensure the centre could continue to operate.
“We know that families around Timboon rely heavily on the service,” Cr Makin said.
“Our priority was to attract a provider before the end of year so that staff and families would not be impacted, so we are thrilled that Kardinia has come on board.”
“Sparkways and Kardinia are now working together on the transition to be ready for families in 2022,” she added.
Kardinia Early Learning General Manager Sue Bunting said the team was excited to be extending its operations to Timboon after opening a Dennington campus in 2015.
“The opportunity to expand our early childhood footprint in Timboon was perfect timing,” Ms Bunting said.
She said Kardinia’s programs and philosophies would complement the region and its emphasis on community.
“Our programs focus on the environment as an active, living influence in children’s lives and we are excited to use the beautiful spaces at Timboon to foster wonder and curiosity for the children.
“Working alongside Kardinia Early Learning Warrnambool, the Timboon team will have opportunities to network and grow through professional development days, conferences and a shared approach,” Ms Bunting said.
