Take a spin on the new Learn to Ride cycleway in Yass
The Learn to Ride cycleway in Miles Franklin Park, Yass was officially opened by Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman, Yass Valley Council General Manager Chris Berry and Ania Wardle from Yass Community Grants today.
The facility imitates a real road environment, complete with road signs, a roundabout, a pedestrian crossing and footpaths to provide a safe space for young cyclists to learn valuable riding skills.

Riverbank Park Adventure Playspace takes shape
The community has spoken and Yass Valley Council is excited to reveal the preferred design for the new Adventure Playspace at Riverbank Park, Yass.
Everyone was invited to have their say on the two concept designs, ‘A Riverland Adventure’ and ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, between 14 October and 10 November on SurveyMonkey.
By popularity (54 per cent), the preferred design was Where the Wild Things Are.

The Learn to Ride facility at Miles Franklin Park is now open to the public. Completion of the Gundaroo Recreation Ground amenities building upgrade has been pushed back by a few weeks due to a delayed delivery. Murrumbateman Winery Trail – earthworks are continuing along the Crisps Lane and McIntosh Circuit section of pathway. Nanima Road Stage Two – works are progressing well and continuing on site. Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement – contractors are continuing with the earthworks and undertaking piling. Bango Bridge replacement – procurement is underway; contract to be awarded prior to Christmas. Morton Avenue – work is continuing on site. Cusack Place – work is progressing well; should be completed by mid-December. Heavy patching is well underway and will be ongoing over the next few months. Additional works are underway on Murrumbateman Road. Fixing Local Roads Stage 2 road rehabilitations – Yass River Road is underway. Safety around Schools projects – Yass Public School design work is underway. Work will commence on the Berinba Public School connectivity upgrades and Sutton Public School refuge projects in early 2022. The two remaining projects are at the procurement stage. Contractor appointed to undertake upgrades on the Joe O’Connor Park carpark; works to be undertaken in December 2021. Preliminary works underway on Back Creek Road. Preliminary works on Mulligans Flat Road and Murrumbateman Road are underway in preparation for safety upgrades.Public Consultation
Draft Yass Valley Development Contribution Plan Closing: 5:00 pm Friday, 28 January At the October 2021 meeting, Council resolved for the Draft Yass Valley development contributions plan to undergo public consultation. The main changes are to appendix A.
