Adult poetry category winner Marguerite Pulham and Paula Pfoeffer from Campbelltown LibraryThe creative talents of local writers were celebrated when the inaugural winners of the Fisher’s Ghost Writing Prize were announced last Friday.
The competition drew over 100 entrants who were asked to produce a short story, essay, memoir or poetry piece responding to the theme, Hiding in Plain Sight.
“It was fantastic to see so many amazing entries during the first year of this competition from across many different age groups,” General Manager Lindy Deitz said.
“Congratulations to all our winners and entrants, there was an abundance of creative talent on display which made it very difficult for our judges to pick the best works,” Ms Deitz said.

Adult short story/essay/memoir: Blake Curran, The Infinite Sky Adult poetry: Marguerite Pulham, Palimpsest Grade 10-12 short story/essay/memoir: Tia Purohit, A Veiled Throne Grade 10-12 poetry: Tara Lau, I Am But Myself Grade 7- 9 short story/essay/memoir: Laeisa Kumar, The Lead Detective Grade 7- 9poetry: Maryam Muzammil, The Rose and the Thorne Grade 4-6 short story/essay/memoir: Brendan Dias, The Toad Tale Grade 4-6 poetry: Furgan Rahman, In Plain SightThe Fisher’s Ghost Writing Prize was managed and judged by WestWords and Campbelltown Library.
A publication featuring the winners and highly commended entries will be available on Council’s website.
