Following on from the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Wodonga TAFE and Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation (MAC), both organisations are excited for the first major step in delivering on their promise to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities with the launch of 'Community Career Connections'.
Community Career Connections is an employment service aimed at supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers in our local region.
The focus will be supporting those who are either registered with a JobActive or who are looking for alternate career opportunities, by offering a full range of employment services.
“Community Career Connections will offer mentor support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job-seekers to ensure common understanding of barriers that may inhibit the participants in their search for work,” explains Tracey Holley, Manager Support & Experience.
“We have a commitment to understanding the importance of work-life balance, culture and professional development opportunities for our applicants."
While focusing predominantly on job search support, Community Career Connections will also be able to assist applicants with skilled services such as resume building and writing job applications.
This initiative further provides great opportunities for the community with a range of identified roles within Community Career Connections having been filled by members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
