Gannawarra Shire Council’s immunisation program will continue in 2022, with sessions occurring at times that are accessible for young families.
Sessions will be held at Cohuna and Kerang from Wednesday, 5 January 2022 through to Wednesday 21 December 2022.
“Council’s immunisation sessions are well supported by the community and ensure that children are able to receive their scheduled vaccinations on time to protect against vaccine preventable diseases,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“All sessions are open to the pubic regardless of where you live.
“Please note that people who are being vaccinated need to stay on-site for 15 minutes after their appointment to be observed by the nurse on duty.”
Immunisation sessions are held at Kerang on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12 noon, as well as on the third Wednesday of the month between 4pm and 5.30pm.
“Due to works at the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre, these sessions are currently held at the Sir John Gorton Library, but may return to the children’s centre at a later date,” Mr O’Reilly said.
Sessions are also held at the Cohuna Maternal and Child Health Centre on the third Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12 noon.
“To protect visitors and staff at this time, our immunisation program is running with various COVIDsafe measures in place,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“It is strongly encouraged that only one parent or guardian accompany the child who is to be vaccinated when attending Council’s immunisation sessions.
“Most importantly, please do not attend if you or your child has symptoms of a respiratory infection such as fever, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath or a cough or have returned from overseas in the past 14 days.”
Immunisation sessions are advertised in Council’s Gannawarra News and Gannawarra Connect publications, as well as Council’s Facebook page.
At this time bookings for all Council immunisation sessions are essential, which can be done by phoning Council’s Customer Service Centre on (03) 5450 9333.
