The WA Planning Commission is calling for feedback on a Draft Position Statement and Guidelines: Planning for Tourism, which will regulate short-term rental accommodation such as Airbnb properties.
The policy and guidelines will look at limitations, exemptions and other potential planning approval requirements for short-term rental properties in communities across WA.
In addition, there is another public survey regarding the introduction of a new Statewide registration scheme for short term rental accommodation. Under the proposed registration system, providers of short-term rental accommodation within Western Australia would be required to register their property to operate and advertise, including on online booking platforms.
The Shire of Collie will be reviewing the documents and preparing a submission. We encourage the community to also provide feedback to the State Government on the draft Position Statement and Guidelines as well as the potential registration scheme.
