Our popular library home delivery service that helped brighten the days of many residents in lockdown has won a national award.

The highly subscribed Library2U service was awarded the National Awards for Local Government in the Creativity and Culture Award category.

Thank you to everyone who voted for Library2U and who used the service over the course of the pandemic.

When COVID-19 restrictions resulted in the closure of library branches, Council pivoted to create a contactless library delivery service. Library members were able to order books online via the website or library app, and receive contactless delivery to their home.

In 2020 and 2021, there was more than 114,210 items loaned and delivered by 51,239 COVID-safe contactless deliveries. That’s approximately one item loaned every two minutes.

The service helped take the pressure off many local families at a time when so many children were completing online learning and parents were working from home.
