Council Customer Service Centre operations during Christmas and New Year
Council’s Customer Service Centre and GORVIC in Apollo Bay will be closed Christmas Day, open all other days through December and January.
Colac’s Customer Service Centre will close at 3pm on Friday 24 December 2021 and re-open on Tuesday 4 January 2022.
For any urgent or animal related matters during the office closure, please call 5232 9400 and you will be directed to the after-hours service. For non-urgent matters during the office closure, please submit a request through the website www.colacotway.vic.gov.au or contact us via email at [email protected]

Bluewater Leisure Centre
From Friday 24 December 2021 until Saturday 1 January 2022 (inclusive), Bluewater Leisure Centre will operate on modified hours as follows:
Friday 24 December: 6.00am – 4.00pm Christmas Day, Saturday 25 December: CLOSED Boxing Day, Sunday 26 December: CLOSED Monday 27 & Tuesday 28 December: 10.00am – 4.00pm Wednesday 29 & Thursday 30 December: 8.00am – 6.00pm Friday 31 December: 6am – 4.00pm Saturday 1 January 2022: 10.00am – 4.00pm New Year’s Day Public HolidayNormal Centre hours will resume on Sunday 2 January 2022.
A reminder that patrons who have 24/7 gym access on their membership will be able to access the gym and virtual room during all closures.
Childcare
Bluewater’s Childcare Program will conclude Friday 17 December and recommence for 2022 on Monday 10 January.
Group fitness classes & aquatic classes
Classes will conclude Saturday 18 December and recommence for 2022 on Monday 10 January.*
*excludes virtual Les Mills classes
Swim School
Swim School classes will conclude Saturday 18 December and recommence for 2022 on Monday 31 January.
Extended weekend hours
Extended weekend hours will come into effective from Saturday 8 January 2022 and conclude Sunday 27 March 2022. The modified hours are as follows:
Saturday & Sunday’s: 8.00am – 6.00pm
Maternal and Child Health Services
The last Maternal and Child Health Services session in Apollo Bay will be Monday 20 December 2021 (by appointment). The centre will re-open on Tuesday 4 January 2022.
The Colac centre will close at 12pm on Friday 24 December and will re-open Tuesday 4 January 2022.
If you need to speak to a Maternal and Child Health Nurse during the Christmas period, we encourage you to ring the 24-hour Maternal and Child Health Line on 13 22 29. If your baby is unwell please contact your closest medical service.
Older Persons and Ability Support Service
The Older Persons and Ability Support Service will close at 3pm Friday 24 December 2021 and reopen at 8.30am Tuesday 4 January 2022. To contact the support service please call 5232 9420 (an after-hours service operates while the service is closed).
Colac Regional Saleyards
The last sale of the year will be held on Thursday 16 December 2021. Sales will resume at the Colac Regional Saleyards as follows:

News on Waste and Recycling - waste services over Christmas and New Year
Kerbside collections
There are no changes to kerbside collections this year, please put your bins out on your regular collection days.
Extra recycling collections
Extra recycling collections start from Monday 20 December (subject to which collection week you are) and continue through to the end of January.
The purple ‘glass only’ collections will continue as normal (once every four weeks).

Transfer stations
Transfer Stations will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The Alvie and Apollo Bay Transfer Stations will open 7 days a week all other days through December and January, 10am to 2pm.
Important Updates for Transfer Stations and Drop-off Facility users:
• Separate glass recycling is now available at transfer stations and drop-off facilities.
• Please note, from 1 January 2022 there will be a new charge for recycling - $4 for a 240L bin or $2 for a 120L bin. The charge for disposing of rubbish remains at $10 for a 240L bin.
• Please note, drop-off facilities will move to cashless from 1 January 2022. Payment may be made by EFTPOS or pre-purchased tip ticket. Tip tickets are available for purchase at Council’s Customer Service centres in Colac and Apollo Bay.
