Lithgow Pump Track was officially opened by the Deputy Premier and State Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP on Saturday 18 December 2021 in front of a crowd of bike enthusiasts of all ages.
The official opening took place in front of a crowd who were entertained by local DJ Jum Wubble. There was also rider demonstrations and Renshaw’s Bikes Lithgow displayed bicycles. A sausage sizzle was provided by Lithgow Headspace.
Paul Toole praised the design of the pump track which had been developed in conjunction with local riders and how its location right next to the adventure playground means Endeavour Park offers something for all ages.
“Pump tracks are a worldwide phenomenon although only recently arriving in Australia,” said Lithgow City Council General Manager Craig Butler.
“What I like about this pump track is that it can be ridden by cyclists of all ages and skill levels – you don’t need a special kind of bike to ride. Kids, teenagers, and even middle-aged dads have been riding it.”
“This is a fantastic free facility, possibly the only pump track west of the Great Dividing Range and according to its builders, the biggest, best and most challenging course they have built to date.”
“The pump track, and the adjacent adventure playground are very good examples of Council’s commitment to proving contemporary, interesting and engaging facilities for its community.”
“I thank our Local Member and Deputy Premier Paul Toole for his support in securing funding for this project through the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Program Round 3.”
