An average of $965 per person, per year – that’s how much food goes to waste in Australia.1

The largest ever investigation into food waste in Australia – by the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre – has found that beef, bread, cheese and salad are the most thrown out foods in Australia.1

Most of us don’t think we waste much food. Yet the average household throws away 219kg a year.1

Whether you’re single, a couple or a family with kids, you can make small changes to reduce how much food you waste.  So important during Christmas holiday time with all our family celebrations.

For example, to stop wasting bread, freeze a whole loaf in slices then defrost slices as you need them.

As Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre suggests, ‘Check what is already in the fridge, freezer and pantry before shopping and take a ‘shelfie’ – so you can check what you have back home whilst out shopping.

Or have each member of the household make one creative dinner a week, using only the food that’s in your fridge and pantry.
